This 4-day trip covers Meghalaya's classic highlights from Guwahati: Shillong's city sights (Umiam Lake, Don Bosco Museum, Ward's Lake), then two full days based in Cherrapunji covering viewpoints, caves, and a wide range of waterfalls including Seven Sisters Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, and Mawsmai Cave, before the return drive to Guwahati.
Detailed Itinerary
Guwahati → Shillong
Pickup from Guwahati and we begin our journey towards the beautiful hills of Meghalaya. On the way, we stop at Umiam Lake for stunning lake views. After reaching Shillong, we explore Don Bosco Museum, Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians / Lady Hydari Park, and Ward's Lake. If time permits, we can also take a short stop at Shillong Golf Links. By evening, check in at the stay. Overnight stay in Shillong. Distance: Approx. 100 km | Travel Time: 3–3.5 hrs
Shillong → Cherrapunji
After breakfast, we begin the day by exploring Shillong Peak followed by Elephant Falls / Matilang Park. Later, we visit Laitlum Canyons or Mawphlang Sacred Forest depending on the route and timing. We then head towards Cherrapunji with a scenic stop at Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint. By evening, check in at the stay. Overnight stay in Cherrapunji. Distance: Approx. 70 km | Travel Time: 3–4 hrs
Cherrapunji Exploration
After breakfast, we explore some of Cherrapunji’s most scenic attractions including Seven Sisters Falls, Bangladesh View Point (subject to weather conditions), Sohbar Boating Point, Kynrem Falls, Thangkharang Park, and Mawsmai Cave. Later, return to the stay and relax. Overnight stay in Cherrapunji. Local Sightseeing Distance: Approx. 40–50 km
Cherrapunji → Guwahati
After breakfast, we begin the day by exploring Nohkalikai Falls, Daithlen Falls, Wei Sawdong Falls, Prut Falls, and Lyngksiar Caves & Falls. Later, we begin our return journey towards Guwahati.
