Phuentsholing to Thimphu
We handle your permit formalities at the border, then begin the drive up to Thimphu. The road climbs steadily out of the plains into pine forest and mountain switchbacks. Note: exact drive time and distance for this leg follow the standard Phuentsholing-Thimphu route; we'll confirm current road conditions closer to departure. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Thimphu Sightseeing
A full day in the capital: the towering Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the valley, Tashichho Dzong, and the Memorial Chorten, plus time to walk through Thimphu's markets and get a feel for the city itself. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Thimphu to Paro
We continue to Paro, a shorter drive than Day 1, and spend the afternoon exploring Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum before settling in for the evening. Overnight stay in Paro.
Tiger's Nest Hike
Today's the highlight: the hike up to Paro Taktsang, Tiger's Nest Monastery, built into a sheer cliffside above the valley. It's a real climb, not a casual walk, budget most of the day for it and expect to be moving slowly near the top. Overnight stay in Paro.
Paro to Phuentsholing
We begin the return drive to Phuentsholing, reaching by evening for your onward journey.
